Tax software is not just about a feature list. The tax year, device, backups and purchase model must also fit your workflow. This researched purchasing checklist is not a hands-on test or individual tax advice. It concerns the German tax offering; translating this article does not make the software suitable for another country’s taxes.
One-off purchase or recurring contract?
Buhl offers WISO Steuer as a one-off purchase and a subscription. Check which option is selected at checkout. The subscription renews automatically each year. Confirm the current total price, renewal and cancellation in the contract terms; an attractive starting price alone is not enough. Buhl: WISO Steuer · Buhl: Abo
Five questions before setup
- Have you selected the correct tax year, and does the specific version cover the cases you need?
- Does the operating system or browser meet the vendor’s current requirements? Check the device you will actually use.
- How will existing data be imported? Keep an unchanged backup and verify imported entries.
- Who may access the account and documents? Use a maintained personal computer and appropriate access restrictions.
- How will you archive the completed return, supporting documents and submission confirmations? Plan a traceable export and backup process.
Results still need checking
Check entries, transferred values and the completed return before submitting. Automatic suggestions and AI output do not guarantee completeness or accuracy. This article does not present average refunds or award logos as our own test results. Qualified advice is useful when the tax situation is unclear.
