13. August 30 years ago

IBM began 30 years ago with the development of the first computer that has brought extreme wealth to many companies to this day, with IBM getting smaller and smaller.

At that time there was no reason to buy a computer, but the skeptics were very wrong. Four years later, on August 12, 1981, IBM released the first personal computer, the IBM 5150, but this was a quick-fire action to not leave the competition like Apple completely the market. The PC, however, came at the right time on the market this device was extremely cheap. After three years, the 1 millionth PC went over the counter. Despite IBM’s success, these significant strategic mistakes had made all components purchased by IBM, making it easy to copy the PC. The then still unknown company Microsoft today the largest software manufacturer developed for IBM the first operating system „MS-DOS“ whereby the founder Bill Gates retained the rights, he became one of the richest of the richest men in the world. IBM tried to develop such a special operating system “OS/2” but this was not successful. Today, after about 30 years, the PC as well as the record or disk is replaced by new devices such as tablets or netbooks.
