Format:
This monitor is OK, already had other Samsung models (e.g. SyncMaster 931c) the 16:9 HDTV monitor (23″) is slightly narrower in height compared to a 4:3 monitor (18″). Many older and also some newer games do not support the 16:9. This pulls the image into the wide. You can change the format to 4:3 in HDTV by settings then it has a visible diagonal of about 17 . Classic buttons are not available on the HDTV, but touch-sensitive buttons (7 pieces) are attached. This allows to operate monitor with some practice even without the included remote control. The image quality is sharp at a resolution of 1920 x1080. Other formats are shown slightly more or less spongy.
TV:
The TV mode is lower class, the analog channels are all recognized and in addition some public legal digital broadcasts. The image quality is jerky and has stripes. Even with a setting of 4:3, the picture does not get better. Compared to conventional LCD TVs above 30″ the picture of the 23″ inch is almost a joke. Videos played by the PC, on the other hand, run smoothly and smoothly. The image quality via a satellite receiver (SCART & HDMI) is also good. This confirms my suspicion that the TV Tuner chip installed in Samsung is of poor quality.
Sound:
Built-in speakers can be downgraded to speakers. The sound quality is that of a phone in hands-free mode or that of a notebook.
Conclusion:
The SyncMaster B2330HD is a MONITOR with immature TV gadgets, yet useful as an emergency TV when the living room TV is busy or defective.
