I try to write as long a report as possible on the HTC Desire.
I have been in possession of HTC Desire for 4 months now.
Coverage

Instructions for use
For hardware:
– A 1GhZ processor is installed.
– The spreader is 576 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM
– Masters the quad band and is thus (almost) usable worldwide.
– Has a 5 megapixel camera with a maximum resolution of 2,592 x 1,552 pixels, also dominates the AutoFocus.
– The display is 3.7 inches (9.4 cm) in size and outputs 480 X 800 pixels (WVGA).
– GPS receiver, also supports A-GPS.
– Bluetooth
– W-Lan
For software:
Android 2.1 with HTC Sense is installed on the Desire, currently the update is distributed by HTC and the various network operators on 2.2 over the Internet, but this should be downloaded via a Wi-Fi connection, because the update is 90MB in size.
As pre-installed programs you can find e.g. Gmail, Google Maps, a browser, Mail(POP3/IMAP4), camcorder, radio, calendar, etc.
Via the existing market you can install any number of applications so-called apps, both free and paid (payment via Google Checkout (credit card)), but here the RAM / ROM plays a role, this is full, no further things can be installed, since installing on the microSD card only works from Android 2.2.
If you already have Android 2.2 so you should install the app „App 2 SD“, with this you can see which can be moved to SD, also you can move this directly via the interface of this app.
To sum up:
When setting up, you are asked for the Google data, as the Android uses many Google services.
The mobile phone can be connected to the Internet via GSM, EDGE and UMTS (3G), HSDPA as well as W-LAN.
For example, the contacts are synchronized with Google Contacts or the calendar entries are processed via/with Google Calendar.
I personally find this useful because I am so everywhere when I am on the PC on the same possibly. More up-to-date data can be accessed from the „mobile phone“ via the Google services.
If the mobile phone has Internet access (mobile/W-Lan), you can also install all possible apps (applications) via the market, you will actually find the right app for everything if you are looking for it (partially it is recommended to search in English, but the most important apps are already in German).
Unfortunately, the market uses Google Checkout, this is the payment service of Google, this presupposes that you have a (virtual) credit card without this you can not install paid apps unfortunately PayPal, Moneybookers or similar are not accepted (keyword: Wirecard (free prepaid based virtual credit card))
Unfortunately, the 1400 mAh battery is still very weakly equipped.
For me, the duration is max. 1-1.5 days. If you have activated everything such as Bluetooth, GPS, WLAN and mobile data line, this can be shortened to half a day or even less.
Conclusion:
This smartphone is really in a class of its own and, I think, can easily keep up with the iPhone.
Because the Android is open source, and the market is open to everything, you find much more or less useful things. However, one is not patronized as with the apple. Whether this is before or disadvantageous to Android, everyone should decide for themselves, but I find this very advantageous.
