If you do not need the sleep mode under Vista or Windows 7, because you always shut down your computer completely anyway, then you can deactivate it and recover valuable space on the system partition – because that is where Windows creates the file „hiberfil.sys“ – exactly the size of the installed RAM. Start a command window with administrative privileges and enter the following command to turn off sleep:
powercfg –H off
With the option „on“ you can reactivate the sleep mode. However, a prerequisite for using the sleep mode is that you set the setting „Allow hybrid standby mode“ to „Off“ in the power options.
