If all desired paths are added, the index service can be started. “Index service” must be marked and selected in the context menu “Start”. Then you are asked whether the index service should be called automatically at the computer start. You have to remember that this function takes up a lot of resources.
Indexing can take a few minutes. You can now distinguish between two different queries when searching for files.
- Standard query: The search term must be entered, then all indexed files are searched for this term and the result is shown.
- Advanced query: Files larger than 1 MByte but smaller than 5 Mbyte are searched here. Values can be set here.
For a standard search, the usual search function of Windows is sufficient.
