A printer is a device externally connected to a computer that allows you to transfer data such as images, text or photos to carrier media, usually paper. For larger formats or larger quantities, printing presses are used.
Another device that can be used to print in the broadest sense is a copier. A document or image is scanned here and a duplicate is then output.
A new feature is multifunction devices that allow you to print, copy, scan and fax.
Special printing methods are, for example, matrix printing, in which the graphic is formed in the form of a point matrix (pixel graphic) or letter printing. Here, the printed material is composed of an existing stock of letters.
A plotter brings the graphics to the paper by moving a print head or cutting head. There are two special forms here. With a writing instrument, signatures can be reproduced on letters. With a line writing, measured values can be mapped for a longer time.
