Vienna (pts024/17.04.2013/17:00) – Today IKARUS presents a comprehensive update for the security app IKARUS mobile.security online. In the new version, some new features were installed and usability improvements implemented.
The menu structure and the design of the app have been optimized and the individual points can now be found in a clearer structure. IKARUS mobile.security has also been optimized for tablets. When the device is rotated into landscape format, a clear view with two columns is now obtained.
Easy setting and configuration
The new version also makes the setup process more pleasant for the user. At the first start, the user can decide which version he wants to use: full version, 30-day demo version or the free version. The user can also change this decision later.
To buy IKARUS mobile.security, there are three options:
– Purchase via Google Play
– Purchase of an activation code directly from IKARUS
– Purchase of an activation code from an IKARUS partner
In the new version you can also read QR activation codes. Depending on which version is selected, an adapted setup starts, in which different configuration options can be made.
If the settings made by the user would lead to a potential security risk, the user is immediately warned in the new version on the overview page with an indication of the optimal configuration. Changing settings is even easier from now on; there is an immediate help for each setting option, which explains to the user what possibilities he has with this setting point.
More protection, more security
Under the topic of anti-theft protection, a SIM card protection that can be switched on and off was installed for the previous functions. If the mobile terminal is stolen and the thief wants to exchange the SIM card, it is immediately blocked and can only be unlocked by entering the anti-theft password assigned during installation.
Until now, IKARUS mobile.security automatically scanned data on the SD card and apps. These two functions can now be turned on and off separately, and there is also a URL filter that protects you from attacks while surfing the Internet. If you open an infected website, you will be informed via a block page that this page is classified by IKARUS as dangerous. But you also have the option to skip the block page and still visit the page if you are aware of the risk.
More innovations…
– Another new setting option is the „Update only on WLAN“ function. Since not everyone has an Internet flat rate, you can turn off the update over mobile network so that the user is not surprised with unnecessary costs.
– For the SMS blacklist, numbers to be blocked can now also be selected from the last ten received messages.
– The USSD protection has been further optimized.
