Conversion of .vwx files to .dwg format

Both .vwx and .dwg are different formats in which technical drawings can be stored. The former usually consists of two- or three-dimensional graphics created with the VectorWorks CAD program, .dwg was created in AutoCAD. In order to import .vwx files into AutoCAD, it must be converted to a .dwg format using VectorWorks.

Conversion guidance

  1. Open the paid program VectorWorks and the desired .vwx file to be converted.
  2. Select “Export DXF/DWG” from the submenu of the “Export” tab in the “File” menu.
  3. Select the .dwg format and select more precise settings to adjust the conversion.
  4. Click on “OK” and complete the conversion.

VectorWorks is not available in free form. In order to save costs, there is the option to ask the sender of the .vwx file to select a different format when saving it, on the other hand you could also ask a VectorWorks user for the conversion in a forum.
