Important: If possible, operate the stick with the supplied power supply at a socket. The USB port of the TV does not provide enough power for every model. Typical consequences are restarts, jerks or connection breaks.
1. Stick attached
- Turn off the television.
- Connect the TV stick directly or via the included HDMI extension to a free HDMI port.
- Connect USB cable with stick and power supply, then plug in the power supply.
- Turn on the TV and use the button Source, Input or Source Select the appropriate HDMI input.
If no image appears, test another HDMI port first and check whether the status LED on the stick is illuminated. If there is a very narrow space behind the TV, HDMI extension often also improves Wi-Fi reception.
2. Connect remote control
In many devices, the remote control is automatically recognized. If not, follow the instructions on the screen. Frequently, Back and Home press for a few seconds simultaneously; For third-party sticks, the key combination may differ.
3. Set up language, region and WLAN
- Choose German and the right region.
- Select your own WLAN and enter the password.

- Fully install any system updates. The device can restart several times.
For 4K streaming, the connection should be stable. 5 GHz is usually faster, but has a smaller range; 2.4 GHz extends further and can be more reliable at a greater distance.
4. Google Account and Data Protection
A Google account is necessary for the Play Store and many convenience functions. Some Google TV devices also offer a limited base mode without an account. For a shared TV, a separate household account is recommended instead of a main personal account.
- Activate personalized recommendations only if they are desired.
- Check web and app activities as well as location releases consciously.
- Diagnostic and usage data can be restricted in the data protection settings.
- Set up a child profile or a PIN lock for children, if the device supports this.
- Protect purchases in the Play Store by PIN or confirmation.
5. Install streaming apps
Underground Apps open the Google Play Store, search for the desired service and Installation Voting. Install only required apps: The internal memory of many sticks is scarce, and unnecessary background services can slow the device down. Subsequently log in to the respective streaming services.
Apps should come as far as possible exclusively from the Play Store. APK files from unknown sources increase the risk of malware and manipulated streaming offers.
6. Optimize image, sound and television control
- Resolution: Under Settings → Display and Sound select the highest stable resolution. In the case of flicker or misfire, change test from 4K to 1080p.
- frame rate and HDR: Activate automatic adjustment as long as the TV and stick support it reliably.
- Clay: If the sound is missing, first test “automatic” or PCM/stereo. Dolby formats require compatible devices throughout the HDMI chain.
- HDMI-CEC: Activate to control volume and on/off with a remote control if possible. Manufacturers sometimes use their own names for this.
7. Updates and Security
- Under Settings → System → Info regularly search for system updates.
- Activate automatic app updates in the Play Store.
- Use a long, unique Google password and two-factor authentication.
- When selling or sharing, reset the stick to factory settings and remove it from the Google account.
