In the control panel, you will be under Programmes All installed applications are displayed. If a program is not uninstalled correctly, Windows may still list the application there even though it no longer exists.
This can happen if you deleted an application’s files via Explorer or the uninstall routine was canceled with an error. However, you can quickly remove such a “faulty” software entry by a small intervention in the registry:
- Start the Registration Editor via Start – All programmes – Accessories – Executions (WIN+<R>).
- Give the command regedit enter and press <Return>.
- Navigate to the key HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. Each subkey here stands for a program which is stored in the control panel under Programmes is displayed.
- Look for the name of the application and click on it.
- Usually, the respective subkey bears the same name as the entry under Programmes in the system control. To be absolutely sure, double-click on the entry in the right window DisplayName. This contains exactly the name of the application, which under Programmes is displayed.
- Once in the left window you have the correct registration key for the program
- have identified, click it with the right mouse button. Then click on them. Deletion.
