If there is an NTFS drive, files or entire folders can be compressed and space saved.
This is how individual files are compressed:
- Windows Explorer start under “Start/All Programs/Accessories” or from the context menu of the “Start” button
- Mark desired file, open „Properties“ of the file in the context menu
- Click on the “Advanced” button and select “Compress content to save space” option
- “OK” click, file is now packed
Clicking “Apply” in the Properties window will update the display and you can see how large the file is and how much space is used.
When editing the file, compression is automatically performed by Windows 7.
