Emisoft celebrated the 8th. Birthday

On December 10, 2003, Emsisoft released its first security program. Since then, the company has been fighting viruses, Trojans and other malware worldwide. Over 6.1 million users already use the software to protect their computer from digital threats. On December 10, the company turns eight years old – and distributes gifts. For eight days, the two protection programs Emsisoft Anti-Malware and Online Armor Premium are offered at a one-time promotional price of only 8 euros.

Salzburg, 09.12.2011 – On 10. In December 2003, Emsisoft released the first version of Emsisoft Anti-Malware, then known as „a-squared“. On Windows computers today there is no way around such tools: Your own computer must be actively protected against digital threats. Many millions of viruses, Trojan horses, keyloggers, spyware tools, rootkits and other malware are already known to PC guardians. Protection programs for the computer help to recognize them and specifically prevent them.

Emsisoft has been fighting for eight years against the malware, which at that time still get via infected disks and mailbox downloads and today via USB sticks and various Internet traps on your own computer. While the virus developers eight years ago were still concerned about simply causing damage, today economic aspects are behind crime: Online hackers generate billions in profits.

Christian Mairoll, Managing Director at Emsisoft:After starting with a niche product in December 2003, we quickly realized that we wanted to develop the best possible protection against all dangers from the Internet. By integrating the second Scan Engine, Emsisoft Anti-Malware has become a full-fledged and world-class anti-virus program in 2008. On our eighth birthday, we would like to thank all users for their recognition.

As of December 10, 2011, when Emsisoft celebrates its 8th anniversary, the company’s two most important Windows applications will be reduced in price for 8 days and then cost only 8 euros – including all signature and software updates for a whole year.

One program is the Emsisoft Anti-Malware malware protection (otherwise 40 euros per year), which comes with two combined virus scanners and a behavior analysis. The other program is the Firewall Online Armor Premium (otherwise 30 euros per year), which seals the computer from external threats and also allows secure home banking. Both programs can also be purchased in the bundle as Emsisoft Internet Security Pack for only 16 euros.

Christian Mairoll: „Between 10 and 18 In December, users have the unique opportunity to buy our software at a real bargain price. And it is not only worthwhile in terms of price, but also in terms of quality: we were pioneers in today’s usual behavioral analysis, offer one of the best recognition services in our protection programs according to numerous tests and have received numerous awards from the media and the test bodies..“

8 Years of Emsisoft: The History of a Company

2003 – An Idea – Company Founding: Emsisoft is created as an association of people interested in malware who have already had experience with the matter for several years and have set themselves the goal of creating better protection against threats from the Internet. At this time, a-squared personnel is a pure niche product against Trojans and worms as a supplement to classic antivirus programs.

It is therefore far ahead of its time.

2006 – Emsisoft 2.0: Second round for most products: Product care is paramount. a-squared Anti-Malware 2.0 with new, simpler program interface, a-squared Free 2.0 with advanced scanner functions, a-squared HiJackFree 2.0 for optimal system analysis for professional users and a-squared Anti-Dialer 2.0 for protection against expensive dial connections are released. New features include support for non-admin accounts, Windows Vista support, introduction of the anti-malware network and optimized RAM consumption.

2008 – First free dual-engine virus scanner in the world: a-squared anti-malware receives a second scan engine with version 4.0. The combination of proprietary scanning technology with that of Ikarus Antivirus raises the detection performance of the product to the highest level. Also a-squared Free receives the second engine and thus becomes the first free dual-engine scanner in the world. The new surf protection in a-squared anti-malware now blocks known dangerous and fraudulent websites. Also new in the Emsisoft product range: The Emsisoft emergency USB stick for offline cleaning of infected computers. Mamutu 1.5 receives a swarm-based recommendation function that facilitates decisions on behavioral analysis alerts.

2009 – MalAware 1 min scanner – test wins on the running line: The independent antivirus testing organization PC Security Labs compares the detection performance of antivirus programs and concludes several times that Emsisoft anti-malware has the best detection. For this, the software receives the Antivirus of the Year Award The MalwareResearchGroup also confirms these results. The user community votes Emsisoft Anti-Malware to receive the 2009 Epsilon Shareware Award. The ultra-fast and extremely small 1-minute cloud scanner MalAware 1.0 is released. Emsisoft Anti-Malware appears for the first time without „a-squared“ in the name in version 5.0 and is the successor to a-squared Free with the new freeware mode. As one of the first products with behavioral analysis to have full x64 support, it receives its first VB100 Award. In December, a version for Windows Server will also appear for the first time. The Emsisoft Emergency Kit 1.0 will be the first fully portable free dual-engine scanner for use on USB sticks or CDs. Tools for use in companies are published. Including the Proxy update, Commandline Scanner and new Helpdesk licenses.

2011 – Emsisoft anti-malware with leading protection performance in the MRG test – 1% market share: MalwareResearchGroup, which specializes in antivirus testing, once again confirms Emsisoft Anti-Malware’s best protection against new threats compared to the 19 most important antivirus programs. Emsisoft Anti-Malware 6.0 with up to 450% faster scans and less resource consumption cracks the 5 million signatures mark for the first time.
