Event on 7. May 2013 in Vienna with keynote by Reinhard Ploss, Infineon AG
Vienna (pts029/23.04.2013/14:15) – In May, the second event of the „ICT Trends 2020“ series of the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) will take place with the keynote speech by Reinhard Ploss, Infineon Technologies AG http://www.ocg.at/ikt-trends-2020-elektronik-aus-europa )
Together with the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit), the ICT Trends 2020 workshop series initiated by the OCG will be continued on 7.5.2013. The event in May will open with a keynote by Reinhard Ploss, Infineon Technologies AG, and is dedicated to the topic „Electronics from Europe“. Longer-term industrial perspectives are examined against the background of the current European debate on reindustrialization. Reinhard Ploss presents the Vision 2020 for Infineon using the example of the chip industry, embedded in the European and global context. Axel Freyberg from A.T. Kearney Germany gives an overview of the study „European Hightech 2020“ and thus explains how certain statements for IT2020 come about. A prominent panel then takes up the topic and discusses it in plenary.
The example of Infineon is to make the concrete view of the industry on IT trends and the enormous breadth of IT visible. With references to internal IT structures and their modes of action, methodology of IT trends, a contribution to a deeper understanding of the nature of IT should be made.
The event is aimed at a broad audience: from decision-makers from politics, business, administration, science and research to students.

About ICT Trends 2020:
IKT Trends 2020 is a series of events organised by the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit). Based on the fundamental question „What is ICT today?“, several events will present trends and future development opportunities in the field of ICT from different perspectives. The series started in January 2013 with a keynote by Moshe Rappoport, IBM Research Switzerland.
