Power struggle in the browser market: With Chrome 13, Google has presented, probably on the 16. August counters Mozilla with version 6. We tested both browsers in detail.

Firefox 6:

Compared to its predecessor, the new version 6 has gained pace, but only a little bit. The Internet Explorer 9 and Google Chrome, the Firefox 6 still does not come. For this he brings some new functions:

Checking websites: Cookies, location, passwords: websites want to know a lot about their visitors. Using the new function “authorization manager”, the user can determine for himself which information certain websites can access and store.

Plugin Updater: A shortcut in the Add-ons Manager leads users directly to the Mozilla plugin check. He now also checks all the detailed plugins, for example the flash player or java for actuality. The current versions can be installed by click. The aim was security and presentation.

Domain highlighting in Firefox 6: In the address bar of the browser, the domain of the current website is bold. So users should recognize the pages better, for Internet Explorer and Google Chrome this is already available.

Chrome 13:

Google Chrome still puts speed first, as in version 13. When building pages, Chrome slowed down the competition.

New functions:

Website preloading function:

While entering the search term on Google, the pages are loaded in the background on which the user is expected to click so-called (instant pages). This makes Chrome a competitor much faster.
