If you do not want to click through a chain of program windows every time, expand your shortcuts in the Start menu. For this purpose, proceed as follows:
1. Right-click the Start Menu and then Properties. The Properties window of Taskbar and Start Menu appears. Open the Start Menu tab.
2. Click the Customize button. Adjust the Start Menu dialog box. Open the Advanced tab.
3. Using the Workplace icon, identify the Display as a menu option field. Repeat this process for the icons Own images, Own files, Own music, network connections, Control Panel. In the system management element, select Show All Programs in the menu and in the start menu. For the additional menu Recently Used Documents, check the box.
4. Click OK to adopt the settings.
