Professional, large-scale multi-touch solutions presented
Vienna (pts005/15.04.2013/08:00) – The Viennese software house LieberLieber presented on 8. In April 2013, Microsoft Austria will present the latest multi-touch applications on the large-format devices of its hardware partners Samsung, Pyramid, MyMultitouch and FlatFrog. The great interest of the more than 80 visitors and the media representatives present shows us once again that we are working on a highly topical topic with our interactive multi-touch applications. We are already delighted to be able to translate the many ideas discussed at the event into real multitouch applications, says Christian Zauner, Director of Business Development at LieberLieber Software, summarizing his impressions.
The first visitors arrived before the official opening at 12:45 and took a first look at the seven multitouch devices on display. Ola Rasmusson, Sales & Marketing FlatFrog, introduced the new pressure-sensitive Flatfrog Multitouch 3200: „We are very thankful that LieberLieber and Microsoft chose to include us in their event Device Day 2013“. The Austrian market seems very interested in multi-touch and our high-end product, the FlatFrog Multitouch 3200. We hope to see some good results here, together with Lieber Lieber’s exciting applications. The Swedish manufacturer uses self-developed infrared technology for its multi-touch devices and has several patents.
Other highlights of the exhibition were:

Rockwell Automation: Visitor Magnet Multitouch Solution
In addition to the manufacturers, users also presented their projects implemented with LieberLieber in the lecture block. For example, Mag. Michael Marks, Marketing Specialist Austria and Switzerland of Rockwell Automation: We were looking for a new, interactive presentation system for trade fair appearances that enables the ongoing update of content. LieberLieber was recommended to us as a specialist and implemented a corresponding solution in a short time. The entire solution was first demonstrated at the Nuremberg trade fair SPS 2012 and consisted of a LieberLieber application on four Samsung SUR40s with Microsoft PixelSense and a multi-user touch wall from MyMultitouch measuring over 5×2 meters. The application represents Rockwell Automation’s range of solutions with a focus on new products and compact control solutions.
“In this project carried out with LieberLieber, we were able to demonstrate our joint competence in the creation of large multitouch walls and are pleased about the increased interest in visitors,” says Carsten Hermann, co-founder of MyMultitouch. From the practical use of the fair, Rockwell Automation gained important experience: We realized that visitors with live moderation have to communicate the interaction with the multi-touch wall. And in any case, the menu navigation on the devices should be intuitive and clearly understandable, says Marks in retrospect.
Interactive customer contact: Practical POS solutions
The German Pyramid Computer specializes in point-of-sale solutions with its polytouch model series and also cooperates with LieberLieber in this area. Alberto Perandones, VP Business Development Digital Media at Pyramid Computer, presented various application scenarios based on several customers. For example, the largest English clothing retailer Marks & Spencer uses Pyramid Computer’s multi-touch systems to reach its customers through new distribution channels. Following a pilot project in 2011, the first rollout in 2012 followed in France and England. Marks & Spencer reported an 18 percent increase in sales last year. Grocers Tesco and Emma’s grandson, on the other hand, used the PoS systems directly in their stores, and even Microsoft will soon be setting up polytouch at the Retail Experience Center in Redmond.
Multitouch and smartphones: A broad field of application
For LieberLieber, Device Day was also the „starting shot“ for p:easy, the latest development by the Viennese software company. p:easy is an ideal product for anyone using large-scale multi-touch devices. With this solution, the user integrates existing content into a multi-touch presentation – without having to worry about a content management system. The LieberLieber expert also gave an outlook on the future in one of his lectures: We will see an increased connection between smartphones and multi-touch solutions in the future, which significantly expands the range of possible applications. The transparent display technology shown on Device Day will also take its triumphant march into widespread use via marketing and use at the POS. The final wine meal with the Gols winegrowing family Nittnaus gave the opportunity to let the multi-touch fantasy run wild.
