This guide describes a robust basic workflow and deliberately does not use copied manual texts or manufacturer images. Depending on the edition and update, names can vary slightly. Save the project regularly; the project file contains references to your media, but not automatically copies of all original files.

Preparing project folders

Create a main folder with subfolders for video, audio, images and export. Copy recordings of memory cards to the SSD first. In this way, the paths remain stable and the project can be secured more easily later.

Create a new project with suitable film settings

Start Video deluxe and choose a new project. Adjust resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate to match the main material, about 1920 × 1080 or 3840 × 2160. If the program offers an adjustment to the material on the first import, check the frame rate in particular.

Import media and create rough cut

Drag files from the media pool to the timeline. First, just arrange the usable scenes. Place the playback token at an interface, disconnect the clip and remove the unwanted part. For a clean rough cut, focus first on content and rhythm, not on effects.

Fine section and transitions

Short clip start and end over the object edges. Hard cuts usually seem calmer than many eye-catching apertures. Use a short fade only where time or place change visibly. Check if the image and sound are still synchronous after shifts.

Make the tone understandable

Set voice clips first, then music and effects. Lower background music under speech significantly and control with headphones. Avoid permanent red level indicators. Use noise filters sparingly because heavy processing can make voices sound metallic.

Complement title, color and subtitles

Use legible fonts with sufficient contrast and keep titles within the visible range. Correct white balance and brightness first, then saturation. Automatically generated subtitles always listen completely and correct names, numbers and technical terms.

Preview and export

Watch the movie completely. Check black images, tone jumps, typos and the end. For web and TV, MP4 is mostly compatible with H.264; Resolution and frame rate should correspond to the project. Export to the prepared export folder and check the finished file outside the editing program.

If the preview is jerking: Reduce preview quality, use proxy files or preview rendering if your edition supports it. This does not automatically change the quality of the final export.

Data backup and typical errors

  • Share the project file and all media used.
  • Do not rename or move original files during the project.
  • Use music, images and fonts only with a suitable license.
  • Save a new project version before a major change.
