This guide applies to the Nokia 2720 covered by the linked HMD manual, not every Nokia phone. The old device must support sending contacts over Bluetooth. Check its own manual: reception instructions do not prove that any sender has an export feature.
Prepare without losing originals
Charge both devices and keep the contacts on the old phone. Make an additional backup using an export it actually supports, if available. A .vcf extension alone does not guarantee that every field will transfer correctly. Do not upload private address books to an online converter.
Start with one non-sensitive test contact. Record its name and numbers for comparison. For real contacts, multiple numbers, international prefixes and special characters also matter. A transfer is not yet proof of a complete backup.
Receive and import
- On the Nokia 2720, select Settings > Network & Connectivity > Bluetooth > On, as specified by HMD. Labels may vary with the interface language.
- Enable Bluetooth on the old phone and send the test contact following its manual. Select the correct destination. If a pairing confirmation appears, compare the displays on your two devices.
- On the Nokia 2720, accept only the expected transfer request.
- From the home screen, open Notices > Files received > Import. Receiving a file does not automatically add a contact before import.
Check the result, not just the success message
Open the imported contact in the address book. Compare spelling, every phone number and field assignment with the original. Check additional fields you need individually; successful Bluetooth transmission does not guarantee their preservation. Only after the test passes should you transfer the remaining contacts in manageable groups and compare counts and samples.
Stop when something fails
Do not repeat an import blindly: duplicates may result. If sending is unavailable, the format is rejected or important fields are missing, preserve the old phone unchanged and identify a supported export/import route for both exact models. Do not simply rename an unknown backup file to .vcf. HMD also describes Contacts > Options > Settings > Import; this does not imply universal format compatibility.
Turn Bluetooth off afterwards if you no longer need it. Reset the old phone only once an independent backup and the required destination contacts have actually been checked.
