A Nokia logo or similar casing is not enough to select a manual. Model name, generation and device variant must agree. This inventory check changes no settings and requires neither a reset nor an app installation.
Identify the device
- Record the complete model name from device information, if that menu exists. Menu names vary by system; do not use an allegedly universal keypad code.
- Compare it with the original box or purchase receipt. A second-hand box may belong to another device and is not proof on its own.
- Look for a visible type designation on the device. Open a case or remove a battery only if the appropriate manufacturer instructions expressly allow it; first switch off and disconnect the charger. Do not remove a built-in battery for this check.
- Record model, type number and, where applicable, year separately. IMEI and serial number identify an individual device, not its model. Do not publish them in screenshots or forums.
Match the official manual
Search manufacturer support for the complete model name, including year or additions such as 4G. Open the manual and check its supported models before following procedures. For example, the HMD Nokia 105 (2024) manual explicitly lists TA-1627, TA-1683 and TA-1684 under Keys and parts. This does not automatically cover every phone named Nokia 105.
Also compare the key layout, connectors and regional variant. A similar product photo is insufficient. If the type number or connectors disagree, do not yet use the instructions; clarify the match with the manufacturer.
Check the operating system separately
Read specifications for the exact model. HMD lists RTOS and Micro USB for Nokia 105 (2024). An Android tutorial or Android app download is therefore not a suitable substitute. Do not apply these specifications to other Nokia smartphones or older devices. A USB connector shape alone also does not establish a particular data-transfer capability.
Record the result
Keep a short note containing model name, type number, manufacturer-stated operating system, manual URL and check date. If a PDF is offered, save it with a clear filename. Only when device details and manual agree should you find the actual task, such as transferring contacts or using a memory card. If the label is unreadable or details conflict, identification remains unresolved: do not install firmware, delete data or guess from a similar model.
