If you sit a lot at the computer, you usually need a monitor that shows everything nicely clear.
Compared to the massive 14-inch VGA monitors that were still in use a few years ago, today’s LEDs and LEDs are the same. LCD screens are a real enrichment.
Not only do they now have a pretty flat design, they also have a nice large display, so you can see everything clearly, sharply and in rich colors. A relaxed work on it has become a really relaxing affair.
However, they do not last forever, so you have to buy a replacement after a long time.
That’s how I felt recently when an over three-year-old ACER 19-inch screen gave up its mind and I urgently needed a replacement.
Relatively quickly I found a 23 inch monitor of the brand Hyundai with the designation V236WD, which more than suited me because of the super price of 109.99 euros and for which I then decided.
– Outfit of the monitor – :
The black glossy case of this device has a rather compact design, but above all it is extremely ergonomic.
On the front you can see the narrow border, which has a nice rounding at all corners.
At the lower edge you meet the external controllers on the right. Viewed from right to left, these are the on/off switch, the operating indicator (blue – on/orange – in energy-saving mode), the menu and the volume fast button.
Then there is the eco-fast button. This is used for eco-regulation when OSD is switched off. The Auto/Source button, on the other hand, is pressed for automatic configuration for two seconds when OSD is on.
If you turn to the back, you will find there on the left at the upper area between the foot the connection for the power cable and next to it the connection for the audio cable.
To the right of the foot, however, is the connection of the 24-pin DVI cable and the VGA connection for the signal cable or D-SUB cable on the outside.
– Technical data – :
The Hyundai V236WD is a 23-inch full HD color monitor, which therefore has a screen diagonal of 58.4 cm. It is equipped with a universal power supply and allows operation of 100/120 V or 220/240 V and a maximum of 55 watts.
The apparatus, with a thin-film transistor and two integrated loudspeakers of two watts each, has a width of 54,8 cm, a height of 39,6 cm and a depth of 20,0 cm. The weight is 4.9 kg.
The screen with 16.7 million colors using the 24-bit color support, whose TFT reaction time is 5 ms, is characterized by a sharp and clear image.
Here, the recommended and maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, the contrast is 1000:1; dynamic at 20000:1, the brightness at 300 cd/m2 and the format at 16:9.
To adjust one and the other point for its ratios, there is the menu, which is divided into five points, which in turn have corresponding submenu points.
These are the menu items:
– Luminance with the submenu points Brightness, contrast, Eco mode and DCR
(Dynamic contrast ratio).
– The image setup is divided into beat, focus, H-position, V-position and aspect ratio.
– Color temp. has the submenu points Warm, Normal, Cool, SRGB and User.
– The OSD setup is divided into H-position, V-position, shutdown time and speech.
– Extra is divided into input dial, DDC-I, reset and info.

In the delivery was next to the LCD monitor, the foot, the oval floor plate, a power cable, a D-SUB cable, a DVI cable and an audio cable.
In addition, a Quick Installation Guide and a CD with Manual Guide and Driver were included.

– Experience – :
Since I had compared other monitors before the decision, I was fully convinced of the decision, but did not know whether I should still enjoy this device, which was also communicated to me via e-mail.
Coincidentally, however, it turned out that I was on the Schwab website again days later and then discovered that this device can be ordered in the next few hours when ordering. Immediately I called the hotline and made everything so far clear. I was just thrilled.
In fact, I received the device quite quickly and started to set up immediately after a short review of the content.
Since the monitor should be placed on a desktop like the previous one, which has been on the desk for a long time, a location was already selected in this regard. So only the foot with the oval floor plate had to be attached.
This was also done quickly, so that the D-SUB cable and the power cable had to be attached. Since the DVI cable is optionally used for the D-SUB cable, this was not necessary for me. The same was true for the included audio cable, which I still wanted to connect in order to inspect the sound of the integrated boxes.
In the end, I wanted to rotate the monitor a bit to have a good view, which I did, holding the floor plate and the foot a bit tight.
After everything was set so far, I switched on the monitor and the PC and waited until XP had booted up.
Then I looked at the picture, which seemed really sharp, was given a good brightness and also the colors appeared full. The resolution was set for me as before on 1280 x 1024, which seems to me just right because of my desktop arrangement with Fences.
Otherwise, I did not plan to make various changes, although I did not necessarily want to do this, as I found standard settings to be the best in many cases.
I also got this confirmed when looking at various pictures, videos or when I was online and had a great picture in front of me.
Another conviction also provided me with the integrated two speakers, which I also wanted to test.
For this, I connected the supplied audio cable on the back and then on the PC instead of the two external boxes.
When I listened to the first sounds, I was not badly surprised that they sounded quite full and clear. This was best shown with various music CDs, which I once listened to or when watching video clips, as well as when making online calls with Skype.
The great thing about the integrated speakers is that you not only have a great alternative to external boxes, but above all save space if it is not quite so lush.
Therefore, a future use might well be announced for me.

All in all, I find the monitor top. Starting with the great price, I really liked everything so the design, the image quality, the sound and the possibilities to make additional changes. You can definitely recommend the monitor.
