Windows XP has been enriched with many additional functions and programs that are not necessarily part of the functionality of an operating system. Although Windows offers a lot – the software for your most individual needs or special programs are of course not yet included with the small all-rounder. Office applications such as Word, larger image editing programs, games and many other programs will be retrofitted in the course of your user existence. The programs are installed and made known and available via the operating system – registered. When you install new programs on Windows XP, do the following:
1. Insert the installation CD, disk or open the downloaded file. Usually an autoplay (automatic opening of the CD menu) is opened from the CD. For the disk, go to Start -> Workstation and select the disk drive usually A: or B, for downloaded programs simply the *.exe (file extension for executable as executable) is selected.
2. Start an installation assistant automatically, then follow the instructions on the screen. If it does not start Installation Assistant, then click Control Panel in the Start menu and then Software. A window appears with all currently installed programs.
3. Click Add new programs and then click CD, disk or select the folder path of the download. The installation assistant starts. Click Next to bypass the welcome screen.
4. Windows is looking for an installer. If it does not find setup.exe or uninstall.exe, click Browse to select the appropriate file, or enter the path for the file in the field displayed.
5. Click Finish to start installing the program. Follow the applications on your screen.
