Microsoft has for the first time given an extensive insight into the upcoming operating system Windows 8. Windows development manager Steven Sinofsky presented the new user interface of the operating system at the D9 conference in California.
Therefore, there will be two types of applications under Windows 8. These are classic Windows software and special Windows 8 apps based on HTML 5 and JavaScript. Internet Explorer 10 is the platform for these special Windows 8 apps based on web technologies. They are integrated directly into the new user interface.
In addition to the new user interface based on Tiles and HTML 5 apps, there is also the classic desktop, which has undergone many detail improvements, including the operation by means of touch input. Compared to normal shortcuts, tiles have the advantage that they can still represent a small part of the program information, for example, in the case of a weather app, the current weather. For this information, the software does not have to be started extra.
According to Microsoft, Windows 8 will run on the different computer systems, whether PC, notebook or tablet. The operation can be performed by touch or keyboard and mouse. The entire user interface has been designed so that both input methods are possible.
About a release date of Windows 8 did not want to comment the Windows boss yet. However, he stated that speculation about a market stat in the autumn of 2011 is not true. It is very likely that Windows 8 will not come until the course of next year.
