The USB (Universal Serial Bus) technology is nowadays indispensable from the world of technology. It is used in many devices such as digital cameras, storage media, mobile phones and MP3 players. Mini and micro USB plugs have the same function in and of themselves, they serve as a connecting part between PCs and other electronic devices. Since 2011, however, micro-USB plugs have mainly been used, as they are smaller and longer-lasting of at least 10,000 connection and separation processes.
Micro USBs have been on the market since 2007. As the technical devices such as mobile phones become smaller and smaller, mini USBs ran the rank and made room for micro USB. Five pins provide the optimal connection, the ID pin can be used as an A or B plug, which has an advantage when using smartphones. It also works in its own Mico-USB-AB plugs.
There are some parallels between Micro and Mini USB. Just like the Micro, the Mini USB, which is smaller than the standard USB, has five contacts, one of which is the ID pin. This is usually not used. A big difference between Mini and Micro is the lifetime, which in the former consists of at least only 5,000 connections and separations.
What is the future?
Mirco USB plugs, which are now most commonly used in electronic devices, are still on the rise. For mobile phones, micro USB plugs have displaced alternatives. Data can be sent and received in this way, the phones can also be charged.
