Format USB sticks

On Windows 7, Vista and XP, you can also format USB sticks, external hard drives and memory cards through Windows Explorer.

However, this requires basic knowledge, since formatting can only be achieved via the context menu of the Windows Explorer. For PC beginners, the free tool „Any Drive Formatter“ is therefore suitable, with which USB sticks, external hard drives and memory cards can be formatted easily:

1. Download Any Drive Formatter and install the application.

2. Start Any Drive Formatter with admin rights.

3. Select the drive from the list you want to format.

4. You can then set the method by which the drive should be formatted. By default, „Full Format“ is selected – this method completely formats the drive, which can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more depending on the storage size. With the selection of the option „Quick format“, however, the formatting is completed within a few seconds.

5. Before clicking on the „Format“ button, check that you have selected the correct drive. Then start the formatting.

Any Drive Formatter supports Windows 7, Vista and XP in the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
