Today had the interesting phenomenon that a customer who switched off his PC with Windows 7 over the weekend simply got stuck when booting up. The PC ran up and remained a black screen where only the mouse was movable.
Of course, I went into the safe mode and wanted to boot up the PC so… wrongly thought… unfortunately did not work the remained stuck with the file classpnp.sys. Restart again and try to start Safe Mode with prompt – did not work either.
At the hardware check I proceeded as follows:
- CD drive suspended
- 2. Hard disk suspended
- All USB devices suspended
Nor did it work.

Since I installed a raid controller with a mirror there three years ago, of course the repair of Windows does not work so I had to download the driver from Dawi Controll and save it to my USB stick. After loading the correct driver for the Raid Controller, I was finally able to call the Windows 7 repair console.
Now I just had to start Windows 7 System Restore and reset it to a date from last week. – Finally done –
I also have a problem with the classpnp.sys dissolved.
After the problem with classpnp.sys and System Restore, I got these two errors. I once brutally ignored these and let a Chkdsk go through.
Fortunately, now everything works again. Importantly, for those who have a RAID system with a mirror, one of the two hard drives is separated before this process.
