What is a CRC error? CRC error means that an error occurred during the cyclic redundancy check of a hard drive. A part of a read file on the hard drive does not give the expected value and thus indicates a damaged hard drive.
How to fix the CRC error on your hard drive:
- “Start” button and then click “Computer”
- Right click on faulty hard drive – “Properties”
- Click on “Tools”
- Under „Error verification“ you will find „Check now“, click
- In the “Error verification” menu, select “Automatically correct file system errors” and “Find/Recover faulty sectors”
- In the “Error Check” window click “Start” and start error checking and repair
- When asked „Do you want to perform the error check the next time the computer boots up?“ Answer ‘Yes’
- Then restart the computer.

To recover lost data with software, you can test the following products. Since data recovery is a very delicate topic, we do not recommend whether this works or not, as very often a hard drive is too damaged to recover the data using software.
